Marie Antoinette, Napoléon Bonaparte, the Duke of Berry and Lord Hertford all have fascinating connections to Chateau Bagatelle. Bagatelle also was the former home of Sir Richard Wallace, and he was its last resident. The chateau is being restored by Fondation Mansart and will be open to the public free of charge during European Heritage Days, September 21-22.
Visits will take place from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. both days, with classic tours on Saturday and theatrical tours orchestrated by the King's military household on Sunday. The Society of the Wallace Fountains will present an exhibition on the life of Richard Wallace in the adjacent Trianon. Bagatelle is located on the beautiful grounds of Parc de Bagatelle in the Bois de Boulogne. Everyone is welcome.
