| A new Wallace fountain has been installed in the 13th arrondissement. This brightly colored fountain, painted a deep orange, has been placed near Rue Paul Bourget and Avenue de la Porte d'Italie. Since 2011, the district city hall has been working to draw attention to urban renewal projects by painting the new Wallace
fountains located near these developments in bright colors. In the 13th arrondissement, a blue, red, pink, yellow, and—most recently—an orange Wallace fountain brighten the streetscape.

Une nouvelle fontaine Wallace a été installée dans le 13e arrondissement. Cette fontaine aux couleurs vives, peinte en orange vif, a été placée près de la rue Paul Bourget et de l'avenue de la Porte d'Italie. Depuis 2011, la mairie d'arrondissement s'efforce d'attirer l'attention sur la rénovation urbaine du quartier en peignant de couleurs vives les nouvelles fontaines Wallace situées à proximité de ces chantiers. To celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the Entente Cordiale between France and Great Britain, Sarah Lesage, host of the podcast "La Crème Anglaise," organized, in collaboration with the Society of the Wallace Fountains, a short, guided tour of the Wallace Fountains. The itinerary included a visit to the private fountain located in the courtyard of the British Embassy.
Ben Newick, the embassy residence’s long serving and much-loved butler, shared the history of the embassy’s Wallace Fountain, as well as that of another decorative fountain located in the embassy garden.
The lecture and tour
were followed appropriately by tea at La Maison Elysée, where the pastries are made in the kitchens of the Élysée Palace, just across the street. The sixteen participants enjoyed learning about Richard Wallace and his famous fountains, getting a glimpse of the courtyard and garden of the British Embassy, and sampling exquisite French pastries from the Élysée Palace.

Pour célébrer le 102e anniversaire de l’Entente cordiale entre la France et la Grande-Bretagne, Sarah Lesage, du podcast « La Crème Anglaise », a organisé, en collaboration avec la Society of the Wallace Fountains, une petite visite guidée des fontaines Wallace. Au programme figurait une visite de la fontaine privée située dans la cour de
l'ambassade britannique.
Ben Newick, majordome de longue date et très apprécié de la résidence de l’ambassade, a partagé l’histoire de la fontaine Wallace de l’ambassade ainsi que celle d’une autre fontaine décorative située dans le jardin de l’ambassade.
La conférence et la visite ont été suivies, comme il se doit, d’un thé à La Maison Elysée, où les pâtisseries sont confectionnées dans les cuisines du Palais de l’Élysée, juste en face. Les seize participants ont apprécié de découvrir Richard Wallace et ses célèbres fontaines, d’avoir un aperçu de la cour et du jardin de l’ambassade
britannique et de déguster de magnifiques pâtisseries françaises provenant du Palais de l’Élysée.

The long-awaited restoration of the interior of the Château de Bagatelle, the former home of Richard Wallace, is underway. The work is being carried out under the auspices of the Mansart Foundation, which took the first steps in 2019 to restore the ruined Château and the adjacent Trianon, located in the Parc de Bagatelle.
The Mansart Foundation has been entrusted with the mission of restoring the estate with a view to opening it to the public. The interior restoration is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Château de Bagatelle will house masterpieces of 18th-century French art and will host a wide variety of cultural activities and events. It will also serve as the place for a lasting tribute to the life and philanthropy of Richard Wallace. A life-size statue of Wallace will be installed on the grounds of the chateau.

La restauration tant attendue de l'intérieur du château de Bagatelle, ancienne demeure de Richard Wallace, avance. Ces travaux sont menés sous l'égide de la Fondation Mansart, qui a pris les premières mesures en 2019 pour restaurer le château en ruine et le Trianon adjacent, situés dans le parc de Bagatelle.
La Fondation Mansart s'est vu confier la mission de restaurer le domaine en vue de son ouverture au public. La restauration intérieure devrait être achevée d'ici la fin de l'année 2026. Le château de Bagatelle accueillera des chefs-d'œuvre de l'art français du XVIIIe siècle et sera le théâtre de nombreuses activités et événements culturels variés. Il servira également de lieu d'hommage durable à la vie et à la philanthropie de Richard Wallace. Une statue de Wallace en taille réelle sera érigée au château.

For the past three years, the Climat Libé Tour has been traveling across France to highlight solutions to the ecological crisis.
At each
stop, scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, and engaged citizens come together to exchange ideas and envision a sustainable future. Debates, lectures, and artistic performances punctuate the tour, offering a unique space to understand, question, and take action.
This year’s April event in Paris focused on health and highlighted Wallace fountains, symbols of universal access to clean drinking water for all.

Depuis trois ans, le Climat Libé Tour parcourt la France pour mettre en lumière des solutions à la crise écologique.
À chaque étape, des scientifiques, des artistes, des entrepreneurs et des citoyens engagés se réunissent pour échanger leurs points de vue et imaginer un avenir durable. Débats, conférences et performances artistiques rythment cette
tournée, offrant un espace unique pour comprendre, questionner et agir.
L'édition de cette année à Paris était consacrée à la santé et mettait à l'honneur les fontaines Wallace, symboles de l'accès universel à l'eau potable pour tous.

Wallace Fountains are adorned with four caryatids that serve as columns supporting the dome. Each of these Greco-Roman female figures embodies a
different human virtue. Richard Wallace hoped that people drinking from these fountains would be inspired to embody in their own lives the virtues represented by the caryatids.
One of these caryatids symbolizes Simplicity. This figure is depicted with her right knee bent forward and the hem of her toga above her right knee.
Although Richard Wallace led a privileged life, he understood the importance of simplicity. He preferred the company of struggling artists, found satisfaction in simple pleasures, and was content
with his social status before unexpectedly inheriting a vast fortune.
Today, this caryatid can inspire humans to seek simple truths and to view simplicity as an important virtue in daily life.
The other three caryatids represent generosity, kindness, and sobriety.

| Les fontaines Wallace sont ornées de quatre cariatides qui servent de colonnes pour soutenir le dôme. Chacune de ces figures féminines gréco-romaines incarne une vertu humaine différente. Richard Wallace espérait que les personnes venant s'abreuver à ces fontaines seraient inspirées à incarner dans leur propre vie les vertus représentées par les cariatides.
L'une de ces cariatides symbolise la Simplicité. Cette figure est représentée avec le genou droit plié vers l'avant et l'ourlet de sa toge au-dessus du genou droit.
Bien que Richard Wallace ait mené une vie privilégiée, il comprenait l'importance de la simplicité. Il préférait la compagnie d'artistes en difficulté, trouvait satisfaction dans les plaisirs simples et se contentait de sa condition sociale avant d'hériter de manière inattendue d'une immense fortune.
Aujourd'hui, cette cariatide peut inspirer les gens à rechercher des vérités simples et à considérer la simplicité comme une vertu importante dans la vie

From the moment they appeared on the streets of Paris, Wallace fountains have inspired artists’ creativity. Drawings and paintings depicting these iconic features of
the urban landscape can be found among works produced in the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. The watercolor by Georges Alfred Bottini (1874–1907), titled "The Wallace Fountain" and dated to the 1890s, depicts a wealthy, elegant woman and a poor, disabled man each drinking from the same fountain. It symbolizes Wallace’s wish that clean drinking water be accessible to all.

Dès leur apparition dans les rues de Paris, les fontaines Wallace ont inspiré la créativité des artistes. On trouve des dessins et des peintures représentant ces éléments emblématiques du paysage urbain parmi les œuvres produites aux XIXe, XXe et XXIe siècles. L'aquarelle de Georges Alfred Bottini (1874-1907), intitulée « La Fontaine Wallace » et datée des années 1890, représente une femme riche et élégante et un homme pauvre handicapé s'abreuvant chacun à la fontaine.
